How we started: I have been buying, collecting, trading and selling vinyl since I was a kid. I would listen to all of my mothers records - Little Richard, Fats Domino, Elvis, Beatles the Eagles and so on - then I think I was about 10 when I started buying & collecting my own 45rpms - my first 45 (and I am embarrassed to say) was Shaun Cassidy singing Do Run Run I then traded that record to friend for the Bay City Rollers. I remember trading Mark Fidrych, Thurman Munson and Tom Seaver baseball cards for Wings, Queen, and Rod Stewart records (simpler times) - A few years later the 80s hit and my first full LP album that I bought was AC/DC Back In Black and I was hooked. Van Halen, Kiss, Iron Maiden and of course the hair metal bands soon followed and I collected them all.
My brother followed a different path and thought he was the second coming of Robert Plant. He was a huge fan of Led Zeppelin and even followed the Grateful Dead around for a couple years. My sister, well her first crush was Andy Gibb - then Madonna, Duran Duran (she even made an appearance in a Duran Duran video) and eventually on to punk - who knew? My daughter has also caught the collecting bug and has a nice collection from The Smiths, The Cure, Type O Negative, Ethel Cain & Chet Baker. So between all of us we have amassed a large collection of different music genres as well as acquiring other massive collections along the way! Contact us today if you are looking to buy, sell or trade your music collection or contact us if you have any info on our father or the long lost 1968 45 rpm Chean Reaction record we've been searching for! |

We have been unable to find the 45rpm that Chaen Reaction released in 1968 - but we did find this very obscure 2009 CD with various Garage/Psychedelic Bands from the 1960s - Chaen Reaction is #10 on their playlist - there is even a small booklet with information on the band - I think my Dad would have thought this was awesome but I can guarantee he would try to get some kind of pay day from this CD!
We didn't know our father very well but we knew he was a musician. My mother had told me stories that in the early 1960s some of the bands he had opened for were the Animals, Paul Revere And The Raiders and Gary Puckett & The Union Gap - other than being a lead singer I didn't know anything else about his music history. Then my mother dropped a bomb on me and said my father had a fan club in Oregon back in the late 60s. I was stunned - she didn't remember many details just that he was pretty popular - again I was stunned! So, that was all I needed - I was on a mission to find out more about Jim Burris the musician. The first thing I did was google the following: Jim Burris 1960s Oregon Singer and sure enough a website called garagehangover.com popped up and there it was, a small article about a garage/psychedelic rock band out of Oregon from 1968 called the Chaen Reaction (yes, its spelled right) - my jaw dropped! Then I saw the band picture and there was my dad, the second guy from the left, lead singer - Holy shit! I never knew about this and had never seen this pic before. I immediately started emailing this information to my brother and sister and they were just as shocked as I was. With a little more research I found that the band released 2 songs on a 45rpm. It was released by Earl Records out of Oregon I think in 1968 - Side 1 Song: Sometimes I Think About and Side 2 Song: Chain Reaction - You can listen to these songs on YouTube - they're awesome! Unfortunately, the trail ends here. I have no idea what happened to the band or what happened next. I do know he continued his music career and had many bands throughout his life but cannot find any information on them. I did find out he moved to Finland and released music in Europe under the name Jimmy Grimaldi in the early 1980s - I'm working on finding out more about his "Finland" years. I also believe he worked for a Country radio station out of Escondido or Oceanside California on a project called "Country Showcase" but I am still researching this information. I will provide updates as new information comes in.
Pictures we have found so far of my dad and the bands he fronted
